Citicon was approached to come up with a solution for waterproofing a retaining wall at a residential house in Lakewood Estate, South of Johannesburg. The house is situated next to a lake and has a very high water table. The client was looking for a product that would me more superior to the standard bitumen and a long term solution. The wall first received a cementitious waterproofing coat which helped minimise pin holing. The next step was to apply the primer at 40 microns and took between 45 - 60 minutes to set and be tack free. The retaining wall which consisted of 130m2 was coated and dried in 20 minutes and applied at 1.5mm thick using Polyurea. The Polyurea has high mechanical strength and therefore needs no board to protect it from damage, the system is watertight, seamless and root resistant.
Citicon remain the leaders in Polyurea applications and will continue to do so in this continuous growing market.
