Citi-Con began in 1998 under the leadership of Andre Vermeulen doing waterproofing in the residential market. The focus was quickly broadened to include the commercial and industrial sector.

Citi-Con is a building revamp waterproofing and renovation specialist for the commercial, industrial and residential sectors offering turnkey solutions for waterproofing, structural repair and general maintenance projects. Our small carbon footprint ensures the projects we complete are sustainable with the least possible environmental impact. Citi-Con makes use of green process and products wherever they are available. We ensure a clean and safe environment and only use reputable suppliers and products to ensure that all workmanship and product is guaranteed to maximum term available.

In 2009 Andre Vermeulen saw room for expansion and growth and piloted the vision for breaking the barriers of conventional waterproofing and specialized in providing a durable, very versatile product that far surpasses any conventional waterproofing product or system used – POLYUREA.

POLYUREA SPOTLIGHT: PRESIDENT HYPER SHOPPING MALL

Citi-Con was approached by Bartlett Construction and SVR to find a solution for waterproofing a roof-level parking deck at a shopping mall. It was perfect timing as Citi-Con had just invested in Polyurea technology and this would be a great project to enjoy the benefits of Polyurea. Once preparation had taken place we applied 100 micron Sika primer 156 ZA. The primer had to be tack free before applying 3000 micron Sikalastic 841 ST Polyurea, the road marking was completed using white Sikalastic 845 Al. The joint detail used Sika pro 3 wf and covered with a grey industrial tape to absorb movement between slabs and coated with polyurea. The project was a great success. The polyurea proved to be more than what we expected, it is touch dry in around 60 seconds and can handle foot traffic within a few minutes, with vehicle traffic after 24 hours. It has a high mechanical strength with almost immediate access and high chemical resistance. It can handle temperatures of -30° to 120° C.

Since Citi-Con took on the challenge of this great technology, we have come to the realisation that Polyurea has a vast scope of application – capabilities that we are excited to share with the construction Industry.
