Large concrete culvert sealed
Working alongside principal contractor, Rawucon, Citi-Con, as the specialist waterproofing contractor, sealed the joints of a large culvert that was built in George.
The internal joints were sealed with the Sikadur-Combiflex SG system. This product allows variable and high levels of movement in one or more directions, while maintaining a watertight seal. It consists of a modified flexible polyolefin waterproofing tape, with advanced adhesion properties and a range of different special Sikadur epoxy adhesives. A total of 1 800m of Sikadur-Combiflex SG was applied.
The external joints were sealed with a.b.e Saint Gobain peel and stick membrane. It is a self-adhesive waterproofing membrane consisting of a novel ethylene polymer-modified bitumen. An exposed spunbond, non-woven, polypropylene fabric has been incorporated to provide resistance to alkali solutions and enable the use of both cementitious and acrylic systems without degrading the membrane. A total of 1 800m of a.b.e Saint Gobain peel and stick membrane was applied.
